MY TEACHING APPROACH

Learning music means more than memorizing chords, scales, or songs. It means understanding how melody, harmony, and rhythm work together—and using that knowledge creatively.
My teaching connects technique, listening, and theory to develop musical fluency: the ability to recognize possibilities, make informed choices, and play independently.
My approach draws on structured teaching material developed through my studies with guitarist and educator David Oakes, whose experience includes more than 25 years of teaching at institutions including USC and Musicians Institute.
We often begin with fretboard fluency: notes, intervals, scales, chord construction, and coordination. The CAGED system helps connect chord forms, scales, and arpeggios across the guitar fretboard.
Depending on your goals, lessons may also explore reading, rhythm, ear training, harmony, improvisation, repertoire, and technique. We connect exercises with musical understanding and practical application, balancing systematic study with the music that inspires you.

You'll receive focused assignments and practical guidance to support your development between lessons. Consistent practice helps turn new concepts into familiar musical skills.
Your Personal Learning Library
Active HoloRhythm enrollment includes a personal online library with lesson recordings, summaries, transcripts, instructional materials, demonstrations, and useful links. It grows with your studies, keeping your resources in one place.
Tuition & Enrollment
Private instruction is available through ongoing weekly enrollment or individual lessons. Each 60-minute session is tailored to your experience, interests, and musical goals.

A one-time, prepaid, 60-minute introductory lesson may be offered to new students following application review. Availability is determined by the instructor.

Monthly tuition reserves a recurring weekly appointment and supports progressive instruction throughout the student's active enrollment.
Tuition is billed automatically and does not represent the purchase of a fixed number of lessons in any individual calendar month.

How to Begin
Submit a brief application with your musical background, interests, goals, and availability. I'll review it personally and contact you to discuss lesson times and the best starting option. Once we've agreed on a schedule, you'll receive enrollment and payment details.
Tuition is paid in advance. Weekly enrollment follows a rolling annual schedule of 48 instructional opportunities and four designated non-instructional weeks, with consistent monthly tuition.
Please provide at least 24 hours' notice if you cannot attend. Same-week makeups may be available but are not guaranteed. If I cancel, I'll offer replacement instruction within 30 days or an appropriate tuition credit if replacement is not possible.
Enrollment renews monthly. You may cancel automatic renewal at any time; your reserved lesson time and library access continue through your paid billing period. You may retain available materials for continued private study.
