HoloRhythm Community Music School Philosophies

These policies establish the terms of private online instruction with HoloRhythm, including tuition, scheduling, attendance, cancellations, and access to learning resources.

1. Lesson Formats & Tuition

HoloRhythm offers private, 60-minute online instruction in guitar, bass, and ukulele.

Ongoing Weekly Instruction — $300 per month

Monthly tuition reserves a recurring weekly appointment and supports progressive instruction throughout the student's active enrollment. Tuition is billed automatically and does not represent the purchase of a fixed number of lessons in any individual calendar month.

Individual Lessons — $85 per session

Individual lessons are prepaid and scheduled separately, without an ongoing weekly commitment.

Introductory Lesson & Musicianship Assessment — $60

A one-time, prepaid, 60-minute introductory lesson may be offered to new students following application review. Availability is determined by the instructor.

Family instruction arrangements are quoted individually.

2. Monthly Billing & Enrollment

Ongoing tuition is collected through automatic monthly payments using Square. Each successful payment extends the student's enrollment through the applicable paid billing period. Students maintain their reserved weekly appointment and access to their personal learning library while actively enrolled.

A failed or interrupted payment does not automatically constitute a cancellation request. Payment issues must be resolved before continued instruction can be guaranteed.

Students may cancel automatic renewal at any time. Cancellation prevents future recurring charges but does not immediately terminate instruction already covered by tuition.

3. Instructional Calendar

Each ongoing student's instructional year follows a rolling 52-week calendar beginning with their enrollment. The instructional year includes 48 scheduled instructional opportunities and four designated non-instructional weeks.

Non-instructional weeks may accommodate planned instructor breaks, holidays, or scheduling conflicts that cannot reasonably be resolved. These weeks are communicated in advance whenever practicable. The four non-instructional weeks are separate from the 48 instructional opportunities; they are not deducted from them.

Because calendar months contain different numbers of weekly appointments, students may receive different numbers of lessons from month to month. Monthly tuition remains consistent throughout enrollment.

The instructional calendar applies only while the student remains enrolled. Withdrawal concludes the student's ongoing instructional arrangement rather than creating an entitlement to the remaining opportunities in the original 52-week period.

4. Student Cancellations — Ongoing Instruction

Students are encouraged to provide at least 24 hours' notice when unable to attend a scheduled lesson. When availability permits, I may offer an alternative appointment within the same instructional week. Makeup appointments are not guaranteed.

If a student cancels and no mutually agreeable makeup is completed, the original scheduled appointment counts toward their 48 annual instructional opportunities.

Cancellations with less than 24 hours' notice and unattended appointments ordinarily result in forfeiture of the scheduled lesson without a makeup or tuition credit. Exceptions may be considered at my discretion, taking into account the circumstances and scheduling availability.

Student-canceled lessons do not accumulate as an ongoing balance of unused lessons.

5. Instructor Cancellations & Tuition Credits

If I must cancel a scheduled instructional appointment outside a designated non-instructional week, I will offer a replacement lesson within 30 days of the original appointment. If the makeup cannot be completed within that period, a $75 tuition credit will be provided.

This credit represents the annualized value of one instructional opportunity under the monthly tuition arrangement: annual tuition of $3,600 divided by 48 annual instructional opportunities equals $75 per instructional opportunity.

Credits are ordinarily applied toward an upcoming monthly tuition payment. If the student is discontinuing enrollment, any outstanding instructor-owed credit will be reconciled through an appropriate refund or financial adjustment.

An instructor-canceled appointment is not recorded as a completed lesson or student-forfeited opportunity. It remains outstanding until resolved through replacement instruction or credit.

6. Individual & Introductory Lesson Cancellations

Individual and introductory lessons are prepaid and reserve a specific 60-minute appointment. Students may request one rescheduling with at least 24 hours' notice, subject to availability. The replacement appointment should ordinarily occur within 30 days of the original date.

Cancellations with less than 24 hours' notice, or failure to attend a scheduled appointment, ordinarily result in forfeiture of the prepaid lesson. Exceptions, including rescheduling or refunds, may be considered at my discretion.

If I must cancel, I will offer a replacement appointment within 30 days or a full refund of the prepaid lesson amount.

If a student provides timely notice but a mutually agreeable replacement appointment cannot be arranged, a refund or mutually agreed future lesson credit will be offered.

7. Discontinuing Monthly Enrollment

Students may discontinue ongoing instruction at any time by canceling automatic tuition renewal through Square or submitting a written cancellation request. Cancellation of automatic renewal is sufficient notice; a separate email is appreciated but not required.

Students remain enrolled through their current paid billing period. Regularly scheduled lessons continue during that period.

When the paid period concludes, the recurring weekly appointment is released, the student's rolling instructional-year arrangement ends, access to the personal learning library concludes, and unused courtesy makeup privileges for student-canceled appointments expire.

Outstanding instructor-owed credits and refundable prepaid amounts are reconciled in accordance with these policies and applicable law.

8. Personal Learning Library

Active ongoing students receive access to a personal online learning library organized through Notion. The library includes lesson summaries, assignments, instructional resources, supplemental demonstrations, and links to session recordings and transcripts maintained through Fathom.

Students are encouraged to download or save personal copies of their instructional materials for continued private study, including after their enrollment concludes. HoloRhythm intends to make these materials available for personal retention and will work to resolve technical restrictions that interfere with permitted downloads or saving.

Access to the online learning library ends when enrollment concludes, but students may continue using their lawfully retained copies for personal educational purposes.

Personal Use & Distribution

Instructional materials provided through HoloRhythm are intended exclusively for the student's personal educational use.

Students may not redistribute, publish, sell, license, or otherwise make these materials available to others without prior written permission. This includes uploading lesson recordings, transcripts, instructional documents, or supplemental teaching materials to social media platforms, public websites, commercial educational services, or other public distribution channels.

Students retain ownership of their own original work. These restrictions apply to instructional materials supplied by HoloRhythm and do not prevent students from independently performing, creating, or sharing music developed through their studies.

9. Online Lessons & Technical Interruptions

Lessons are conducted through Zoom. Students are responsible for maintaining a suitable instrument, reliable internet connection, adequately charged or powered equipment, and a device capable of participating in online instruction.

Appropriate audio settings and equipment will be discussed during onboarding or the introductory lesson when applicable.

Student-Side Technical Difficulties

If a technical problem occurs on the student's end, including internet disconnection, device malfunction, loss of power, or instrument failure, reasonable efforts will be made to restore the lesson during the originally scheduled appointment. I will remain available for the duration of the reserved lesson period while reasonable attempts are made to reconnect or continue instruction.

If the problem cannot be resolved, the appointment ordinarily counts as a completed instructional opportunity for scheduling and tuition purposes, even if the full lesson could not be delivered. Exceptions or alternative arrangements may be offered at my discretion.

Instructor-Side Technical Difficulties

If a technical problem on my end prevents instruction from continuing, we will attempt to restore the connection. If the lesson cannot reasonably be completed, a mutually agreeable makeup appointment will be arranged.

For ongoing students, unresolved instructor-side interruptions are subject to the 30-day makeup and tuition-credit policy. For prepaid individual or introductory lessons, an appropriate replacement lesson or refund will be offered.

External Service Interruptions & Unforeseen Events

If instruction is prevented by a widespread service outage, natural disaster, significant infrastructure failure, or another event beyond the reasonable control of either party, we will arrange a mutually agreeable replacement appointment.

These interruptions will not be treated as student cancellations or forfeited appointments. If a replacement cannot be arranged within 30 days, the applicable instructor-cancellation credit or refund policy will apply.

Partially Completed Lessons

When a meaningful portion of instruction has already taken place, the appropriate resolution may involve completing the remaining instructional time rather than repeating the entire lesson. Such arrangements will be determined reasonably according to the circumstances.

10. Policy Acknowledgment

Students will be provided access to these policies before enrollment and are expected to review them before purchasing instruction.

These policies may be updated prospectively with reasonable notice. Changes will not retroactively eliminate earned credits or alter already-paid instructional obligations.

Nothing in these policies limits rights or remedies provided by applicable law.
